Possibly the most famous pixie is actually a fairy. Her name is Tinkerbell and she is the fairy (or pixie) created by JM Barrie in the Peter Pan stories. She is described as a fairy in the book but was described as a Pixie in the Disney feature cartoon of Peter Pan. Since then, Tinkerbell has been known as a Pixie and the term is pretty much interchangeable with fairy.
